christopher-guy-saffron
Christopher Guy | Saffron

Saffron by Christopher Guy is an arched mirror with a hand carved crest of shell detailing. Its proportions are generous, and we would let the height do much of the work. The curved top draws the eye upwards; the coquillage carving gives that movement a defined finish. We would place it where the full outline can be seen on entering the room, with enough clear wall around the crown to appreciate the detail.

Three sizes are offered: 78 by 156 cm, 101 by 201 cm and 124 by 247 cm, given as width by height. The finishes include 14th Century Gold Leaf, Italian Silver Leaf and Black Matte. We would consider the finish alongside the room's existing metalwork and timber, choosing a relationship that feels deliberate without matching every surface. Custom size or finish requests can also be discussed when a particular wall or architectural setting calls for them.

In an entrance hall, we would position Saffron above a console with a simple profile, keeping the objects below it low. In a sitting room, it could form a strong centre above a mantel, provided the proportions suit. We would also consider it for a bedroom with generous ceiling height. Plain linen, a quiet wall colour and a chair with a curved back would give the carving company without competing for attention. We would keep adjacent artwork small.

We would check ceiling clearance and the complete delivery route before choosing the largest version. A paper outline on the wall helps establish the relationship between the arched crown, nearby cornicing and the furniture beneath. Before installation, we would confirm the wall construction and fixing requirements with the installer rather than assume a standard arrangement. Ask us for care guidance for the chosen finish. Estimated delivery is 18–20 weeks, with custom requirements agreed before ordering.
