The motif is a set of curved, interlocking shapes that owe something to Art Deco and something to oriental cloud forms. Two yarns are used, one matt and one lustrous, fading into one another so the curves gain depth in the way a painted shadow does, and the stitching lifts into a low bas relief that the ground then softens at the edges.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMade in Italy. The ground is 41 per cent wool, 28 per cent alpaca, 16 per cent cotton, 11 per cent polyester and 4 per cent viscose; the embroidery is 59 per cent viscose and 41 per cent polyester. The cloth is rated at 50,000 rubs on the Martindale scale and the cushion measures 68 by 90 centimetres. Brown \/ Bronze goes with walnut and tan leather, Blu notte with grey and oak, Ivory with anything. The bas relief holds dust in its recesses: a soft brush along the line of the stitching is all it wants.
