In a room it is a texture as much as a stripe, and it goes with everything, which is why we always keep some.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe cloth is 100 per cent cotton, 138 centimetres wide, with the stripe running down the length and a horizontal repeat of 1.5 centimetres. The supplier rates it for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads. There are 11 colourways, including Barley, Terracotta, Periwinkle, Emerald and Daffodil, all on the same pale ground and dyed to match the rest of the collection, so a ticking in Ink will sit with an Ink print or check.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe use it constantly: on the seats of dining chairs, on a loose cover for a sofa in a holiday house, on a pair of curtains in a bathroom, on the underside of a bed valance. It is also the fabric we reach for to calm a room that has one too many prints, and it makes a good lining for a busier curtain. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA stripe this fine matches easily, so allow only a few centimetres extra per drop, but decide the direction before cutting: it should run vertically on curtains and chair backs, and it can be railroaded along a long bench cushion or a sofa seat to avoid seams.
