The linen behind it is open and dry to the hand.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe base cloth is 90 per cent linen with 10 per cent spun polyester and runs 132 centimetres wide, narrower than most in the collection, which is worth knowing before you plan widths. The repeat is 38 centimetres vertically and 22 centimetres horizontally. GP \u0026amp; J Baker list it for curtains and bedspreads rather than upholstery, which is the right call for an embroidered face. Two colourways: Jewel, which puts several strong thread colours against the linen, and Green, the quieter of the pair.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe use it for curtains in a small room where the window can carry the interest, and for a bed throw or the border of a bedspread. It makes a good cushion front too, backed in a plain linen. Keep the rest of the scheme flat: a plain linen elsewhere, and a woven stripe on a chair. Ask your maker to avoid running a seam through a motif, to interline so the reverse of the stitching does not shadow, and to keep pins to the selvedge. At 132 centimetres, a standard pair of curtains often needs an extra width, so check before ordering.
