The drawing is naive on purpose, with stems that wander and flower heads sitting at different angles, so the print has a hand-blocked look rather than a mechanical one. It is small in scale, which makes it one of the easier patterns in the book to use in quantity.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eNinety per cent cotton with 10 per cent linen, 140 centimetres wide, with a repeat of 36 centimetres vertically and 35 centimetres horizontally, near enough square to keep the calculation simple. The mill lists it for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads. Four colourways: Indigo, Blue, Green and Teal\/Spice. Indigo is the strongest and reads almost as a plain from a distance, while Teal\/Spice is the one to choose when a room wants two colours rather than one.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe use it for bedroom curtains and for the inside of a four-poster, and it is a good cloth for a loose-covered ottoman or a set of dining chair seats, where the small repeat lets you place the pattern cleanly. On a bathroom blind it is quietly useful. Pair it with a plain, and keep any second pattern to a stripe. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe repeat is small enough that a standard curtain needs only one extra repeat per drop for matching, but do not skip the match: the scatter is regular enough for the eye to catch an error at the seam.
