The vertical repeat runs a full metre, which is what that scale requires.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe cloth beneath is silk and the pattern is worked in mercerised cotton weft, raised and slightly matt against the silk's own sheen. The effect is closer to embroidery than to weaving, and the shadow between the two surfaces is what gives the flower its depth. There is no metallic yarn in it and no printing involved; the shine is the silk.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eRubelli name their floral designs after women, which is where this one gets its name.
