Ellingham is the largest design in this group, and the one to treat as a document print. The horizontal repeat is 136 centimetres, the full width of the cloth, and the vertical repeat is 90, which means the design is drawn as a single composition across the width rather than as a tiling motif. It is printed on a cotton and linen ground with a dry matt surface, and it belongs to Bridport, Baker Lifestyle's collection of illustrative prints, checks and stripes.

The cloth is 90 per cent cotton and 10 per cent linen, woven 136 centimetres wide, repeating 90 centimetres vertically and 136 centimetres horizontally. It is tested to 20,000 rubs on the Martindale, and Baker Lifestyle rate it for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads. Three colourways: Blue, Aqua and Green. Blue is the classic blue-and-white reading, Aqua the chalkier of the two cool options, and Green the softest and easiest to live with over time.

A design this size needs room. We use it for full-length curtains in a drawing room or a tall bedroom window, and for a bedspread or a headboard where the whole composition can be seen at once. It is not a cushion cloth, because the drawing simply disappears. Pair it with a plain linen and a small woven check from the same collection. Plan this one on paper before you order. A 90 centimetre vertical repeat adds nearly a metre of waste to every drop, so a pair of 260 centimetre curtains will want four full repeats per drop rather than three and a half. Because the horizontal repeat is the full cloth width, every seam is a match: ask your maker to join half-widths at the outside edges and keep a whole width at each leading edge.
