Garden Path is one of the seven wovens in Baker Lifestyle's Block Weaves, a book built to sit alongside the hand-crafted prints of Block Party. It is a small structured weave, repeating 3 centimetres down and 2.5 across, so it behaves as a texture rather than a pattern, with just enough figure in it to catch the light. The viscose-led blend gives it a soft, slightly fluid drape and a quiet sheen that a pure linen would not have.
The composition is 52 per cent viscose, 23 per cent cotton, 14 per cent linen and 11 per cent polyester, woven 140 centimetres wide with a 3 centimetre vertical and 2.5 centimetre horizontal repeat. Baker Lifestyle rate it for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads; no Martindale figure is published for this one. There is a single colourway, Stone, a warm greyed neutral that works as a ground colour rather than an accent.
We use the Block Weaves as the plain-but-not-plain layer in a scheme, and Garden Path is a good example: curtains in a room where the pattern is on a chair, or a whole sofa where you want texture without colour. It is generous at 140 centimetres, which helps on wide windows. Put it against the Block Party prints it was designed for. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
At this repeat size you can treat it almost as a plain, so allow ten per cent over your measured quantity and no more. The width is wide enough that many single windows take one drop without a join, which is worth checking before you order. Viscose-rich cloths can mark with water, so ask your upholsterer to keep steam off the face and to specify a protective finish on seat cushions.
