Honeycomb is a woven cell structure from Block Weaves, with a 10 by 17 centimetre repeat that gives the cloth a clear geometric grid without turning it into a statement pattern. The weave carries some depth, and you can see the structure change as light moves across it. The viscose content gives the surface a soft lustre. It is a mid-weight cloth with enough body for upholstery and enough movement to hang properly at a window.

It is 43 per cent viscose, 25 per cent polyester, 21 per cent cotton and 11 per cent linen, 137 centimetres wide, repeating 10 centimetres vertically and 17 centimetres horizontally. It is tested to 30,000 rubs on the Martindale, which puts it comfortably in general domestic upholstery territory, and Baker Lifestyle rate it for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads. One colourway, Spice, a warm rust-brown that reads as a colour rather than a neutral.

With 30,000 rubs behind it we are happy to put Honeycomb on a sofa or a pair of club chairs in a family sitting room, and the geometry is small enough to take a curved arm without distorting. It also makes a good full-length curtain in a study. Use it with the Block Party prints, or with a plain cream linen if you want the colour to lead. Match the cells across every seam on upholstery: on a three-seat sofa the eye follows the grid straight down the front border, so ask your upholsterer to set out all the cuts before starting. Allow one repeat per drop on curtains plus ten per cent. A weave of this construction should be brushed rather than vacuumed hard, and kept out of direct afternoon sun wherever you can manage it.
