Lilliput repeats 45 centimetres down and 69 across, exactly half the cloth width, so the design appears twice across each drop and comes round about twice per metre of height. It is one of the more legible prints in Bridport: big enough to see the drawing, small enough to use on furniture. The cotton and linen ground is dry and matt, and the print sits flat on it without any sheen at all.

The composition is 90 per cent cotton and 10 per cent linen, woven 138 centimetres wide, repeating 45 centimetres vertically and 69 centimetres horizontally, and tested to 20,000 rubs on the Martindale. Baker Lifestyle rate it for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads. Two colourways, Blue and Aqua: the first a proper indigo-leaning blue on white, the second a chalkier blue-green that is easier to live with in a south-facing room.

We use Lilliput on curtains in a child's room or a guest bedroom, on a bedspread, and on the inside back of an armchair where the drawing gets seen properly. It also makes a good Roman blind, because the half-width repeat centres cleanly. Put it with a plain cotton in the ground white and one of the woven checks from the same collection. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

The 69 centimetre horizontal repeat divides the width exactly in two, so a blind made from a single width will centre with a full repeat either side. Tell your maker to set out from the centre. Allow one 45 centimetre repeat per drop on curtains plus ten per cent. At 20,000 rubs, use it for light upholstery and cushions rather than a main sofa seat.
