Orinoco is a large-scale printed cotton and linen from Baker Lifestyle's Carnival book, drawn at a jungle scale: the repeat runs 89 centimetres down and 91 across, essentially a metre square, so the design needs real height and width to make sense of it. The linen content gives the ground some texture under the print. It reads as a bold botanical mural rather than a repeating small-scale print.

The composition is 90 per cent cotton and 10 per cent linen, printed 137 centimetres wide, with an 89 centimetre vertical and 91 centimetre horizontal repeat. Baker Lifestyle test it to 25,000 rubs on the Martindale, and it is rated for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads. Two colourways: Tropical, a rich multicolour take on the jungle theme, and Blue, a cooler, more restrained single-tone version of the same drawing.

A print at this scale wants a generous window and a full-length drop: we use it for statement curtains in a garden room or a principal bedroom, rarely for anything smaller, since the motif needs distance to read. Tropical carries a room on its own; Blue is the one to choose if you want the drama without quite so much colour. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

Allow a full extra repeat per drop given the scale, close to a metre added to each curtain length, so budget generously before you order. Plan the seams so a complete motif falls at the leading edge of a pair, and centre it carefully on any single-width blind. At 25,000 rubs, keep it to curtains and occasional-use pieces rather than a family sofa. Dry clean only.
