Tumbling Leaves is a printed cotton and linen from Baker Lifestyle's Opera Garden book, drawn with leaves scattered and turning across the cloth rather than set in a tidy grid, which gives it a looser, more natural feel than a formal botanical repeat. The linen content adds a little texture under the print. Baker Lifestyle draws it as a companion to Opera Stripe and Porcelain, so the leaf scale is pitched to sit comfortably next to a stripe or a spot.

The composition is 93 per cent cotton and 7 per cent linen, printed 137 centimetres wide, with a 41 centimetre vertical and 35 centimetre horizontal repeat. No Martindale figure is published, and Baker Lifestyle rate it for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads. One colourway, Red, a warm, confident red that leans toward autumn rather than scarlet.

We use Tumbling Leaves for curtains in a room that wants some seasonal warmth, and on a bedspread or a pair of cushions where the scale can be appreciated at close range. It also works well as a simple Roman blind, where the scattered leaves keep reading as pattern rather than resolving into stripes at a distance. It sits well against a plain cream or camel linen, or a deeper green check for a more layered scheme. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

Allow one extra repeat per drop to keep the leaves matching across a pair of curtains. Because the design has no fixed grid, small placement differences between drops are less noticeable than on a formal repeat, which makes cutting a little more forgiving. There is no published rub count, so keep it to curtains, cushions and occasional upholstery rather than daily-use seating.
