Horseshoe Bay is a linen fabric from Brunschwig & Fils' Majorelle collection, with a bold, large-scale design that reads clearly from across a room. The pattern has a decorative, slightly exotic character, and its repeat is wide enough that it feels like a considered composition rather than a background texture. On linen the colour has a natural, matt softness, and the cloth keeps a relaxed hand that suits drapery and loose furnishing. It is a design that asks for a little space and does a lot with it.
The cloth is 100% linen and measures 133.64 cm (52.5") wide. The vertical repeat is 67.45 cm (26.5") and the horizontal repeat is 66.18 cm (26"), so the design repeats at near-equal intervals in both directions. Three colourways are listed: Red/Blue, Blue/Ivory and Sand/Multi. No end use is stated on the record, so for anything that will take regular wear we would ask about its suitability before committing to a full quantity.
We would hang Horseshoe Bay as full curtains in a sitting room or a garden room, where natural light makes the most of the linen. In Blue/Ivory it is the most restrained, and it sits well with white-painted joinery and pale stone. Red/Blue is the most assertive and suits a dining room or a study with dark panelling. Sand/Multi is the easiest to live with alongside neutral sofas. We would keep other fabrics in the room plain, perhaps a heavier linen or a wool, so the print stays the focus.
A repeat of this size needs planning at the workroom stage. We would calculate drops in multiples of the 26.5" vertical repeat and match the pattern across every seam so the motifs align from one width to the next. Linen can drop slightly after hanging, so leave the hems unfinished until the curtains have settled. Lining adds weight and protects the cloth from sun, and we would suggest ordering a little extra for future repairs or a matching cushion.
