Casamance | Antheor

Antheor is a fine stripe, built up thread by thread so that the bands look woven rather than printed, on a ground that imitates raffia. On vinyl with a non-woven backing, the stripe is narrow and closely spaced, which reads as texture from across a room and as a stripe only when you are near it. It is the most restrained of the Rayures stripes and the easiest to live with.

Vinyl on a non-woven backing at 450 grams per square metre, the heaviest in the collection, in a wide 100 centimetre width on a 10.05 metre roll, free match with no vertical repeat. Fire rated B-s2,d0 and ASTM E84 Class A, with an A+ COV rating, and made in Italy. Five colourways: Ivoire, Opaline, Ficelle, Noisette and Orage; the three pale ones are whole-room colours, Noisette warms a study, and Orage, a storm blue-grey, is the one for a dining room.

We would hang Antheor in a bedroom or a sitting room as the main wall finish, where a plain would be too quiet and a broad stripe too much. It suits a coastal house, and works with painted woodwork a shade lighter than the ground and with linen at the window. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.

Hang it as a paste-the-wall non-woven; it dry strips later. The 100 centimetre width means fewer seams, which matters with a fine stripe, and the free match keeps waste low. Plumb the first drop carefully, as a narrow stripe will show a lean more than most papers. A 100 centimetre roll covers about 10 square metres; a typical 3.5 by 2.6 metre wall takes 4 drops, which is 2 rolls with a spare drop.
