Casamance | Argania

Argania is an all-over botanical drawn from the argan tree: simplified leaf and branch shapes in two tones, given the raised look of embroidery, set on a ground that imitates a coarse jute weave. On vinyl with a non-woven backing, the effect is of a stitched textile stretched over the wall. The shapes are graphic rather than naturalistic, and the repeat is dense enough to read as texture from a distance.

Vinyl on a non-woven backing at 400 grams per square metre, 70 centimetres wide on a 10.05 metre roll, a half-drop (offset) match with a 64 centimetre vertical repeat. Fire rated B-s2,d0 and ASTM E84 Class A, with an A+ COV rating, and made in Italy. Six colourways: Ivoire, Sable, Latte, Eucalyptus, Orange Brûlé and Anthracite; the first three are gentle enough for four walls, and Eucalyptus, Orange Brûlé and Anthracite are for a single wall or a small room.

We would give Argania the bedhead wall of a guest room, the walls of a study, or a cloakroom, with the plain Safra in a matching tone elsewhere since both sit on the same fibre ground. It suits rattan, jute rugs and unbleached linen. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.

Hang it as a paste-the-wall non-woven; it dry strips later. The half-drop match means alternate drops step down by half the 64 centimetre repeat, so cut the drops in numbered sequence and allow an extra repeat per pair. A 70 centimetre by 10.05 metre roll covers about 7 square metres before matching; a typical 3.5 by 2.6 metre wall takes 5 drops, which is 2 rolls once the offset is allowed for.
