Casamance | Azur

Azur is a stripe that started life as a fabric: the Agave cloth from Casamance's textile range, with its embroidered stripe on a heathered linen ground, redrawn for the wall. On vinyl with a non-woven backing, the stripe keeps the raised, stitched look of the original and the ground keeps the flecked linen texture, so the paper sits well next to real linen curtains. The stripe is broad, in two colours, and runs vertically.

Vinyl on a non-woven backing at 330 grams per square metre, 70 centimetres wide on a 10.05 metre roll, free match with no vertical repeat. Fire rated B-s2,d0 and ASTM E84 Class A, with an A+ COV rating, and made in Italy. Seven colourways, each named for its two tones: Ivoire Craie, Camel Beige, Givre Grège, Miel Vanille, Kaki Tilleul, Bois De Rose Terre De Sienne and Sépia Tabac; the first three are the quiet ones for a whole room, and the last three carry more colour for a single wall.

We would hang Azur in a bedroom on the bedhead wall with the plain Lina, which shares the same linen ground, on the other walls; or in a bathroom or a corridor where a vertical stripe adds height. It also works with the Agave fabric itself on a blind or a cushion. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.

Hang it as a paste-the-wall non-woven and dry strip later. As a free match there is little waste, but cut the drops in sequence and check the stripe spacing at each seam before you commit; on a two-colour stripe a mismatched join is obvious. A 70 centimetre by 10.05 metre roll covers about 7 square metres; a typical 3.5 by 2.6 metre wall takes 5 drops, so allow 2 rolls.
