Casamance | Beausoleil

Beausoleil is a straightforward stripe on the Shinok linen-look ground: even bands, one colour on a lighter one, with the slubbed linen texture running through both. On vinyl with a non-woven backing, it is the clean, tailored stripe in the Rayures collection, and the linen ground keeps it from looking too hard-edged. The bands are of medium width and read clearly across a room.

Vinyl on a non-woven backing at 330 grams per square metre, 70 centimetres wide on a 10.05 metre roll, free match with no vertical repeat. Fire rated B-s2,d0 and ASTM E84 Class A, with an A+ COV rating, and made in Italy. Nine colourways, each named for its stripe and ground: Beige Poudré, Ambre Beige, Opaline Blanc Pétale, Miel Blanc Pétale, Fauve Peau De Pêche, Bleu Persan Galet, Bleu Roi Bronze, Pourpre Bleu Ciel and Rouge Carmin Blanc Pétale; the first four are the soft ones for a bedroom, and the blues and reds are for a hall or a child's room.

We use Beausoleil in a bedroom, a bathroom or a corridor, and we run the plain Shinok in the ground colour on the other walls, since the two are printed on the same base. It suits painted panelling below a dado and plain linen at the window. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.

Hang it as a paste-the-wall non-woven and dry strip later. Free match, so waste is minimal, but a stripe shows any lean, so plumb the first drop and keep the drops in roll order for even spacing at the seams. A 70 centimetre by 10.05 metre roll covers about 7 square metres; a typical 3.5 by 2.6 metre wall takes 5 drops, so allow 2 rolls.
