Lina is a plain wallpaper that reads as a heathered linen cloth, printed on vinyl with a non-woven backing. The surface has a soft, slightly flecked texture rather than a flat colour, which is what makes it useful: it takes the place of a painted wall without looking like paint, and in a room with changing light it shifts gently through the day. It sits quietly behind furniture and pictures.
The material is vinyl on a non-woven backing, weighing 330 grams per square metre, in a 70 centimetre width and a 10.05 metre roll. It is a free match with no pattern repeat, so drops go up without alignment. Fire rated B-s2,d0 in Europe and Class A to ASTM E84, with an A+ COV rating, and made in Italy. There are 18 colourways, from Ivoire, Vanille, Sable and Beige through Grège, Nude and Tilleul to Ambre, Tabac, Cacao, Eucalyptus, Emeraude, Bleu Electrique, Pierre Bleue, Garance, Rouge Carmin, Prune and Ebène; the paler tones are the ones we reach for across a whole room, and the deeper ones for a study or a dining room where a bit of enclosure is welcome.
We use Lina as the all-over paper in a bedroom or a hallway, then pick out one wall or the chimney breast in the Azur stripe, which shares the same linen ground and colour set. It also works on its own in a cloakroom where a painted wall would show every mark. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.
Hang it as a paste-the-wall non-woven: paste the wall, offer the dry drop up, and trim in situ. Being a free match there is very little waste, and it dry strips when you redecorate. A 70 centimetre by 10.05 metre roll covers about 7 square metres; a typical 3.5 by 2.6 metre wall takes 5 drops, so allow 2 rolls. As with any plain, keep the drops in sequence from the roll.
