Casamance | Midori

Midori is the scenic design that gives Casamance's Midori collection its name: a Japanese garden printed on a silk-effect ground over a metallic foil, on a non-woven backing. The vegetation is drawn with soft, bled edges, as if the ink had sunk into the cloth, with a few freehand lines suggesting water and a crane standing within the composition. Because the ground is iridescent the scene shifts as you move past it, the pale areas carrying the sheen while the foliage stays matt.

It is 100 per cent polyester, 260 grams per square metre, at a 120 centimetre usable width. Made in Belgium, it carries an A+ indoor air quality rating, a European fire rating of B-s1, d0 and Class A to ASTM E84. There are 3 colourways: Sable Doré Bleu Electrique, Beige Ivoire and Grenat Terracota. Beige Ivoire is the quiet one; Sable Doré Bleu Electrique sets a clear blue against gold; Grenat Terracota is the warmest and works in a dining room. It coordinates with the plain Saori.

We would use Midori on one wall, behind a bed or across the end of a dining room, with Saori in a matching tone on the remaining walls, or above a dado in a hallway where the scene can run its full length. Keep the furniture plain and let the wall be the only picture in the room. Sold by the metre; order a sample before committing to a full room.

This is a job for a professional hanger. Midori is paste-the-wall and dry-strippable, and the scene must be aligned across each drop, so confirm the repeat with us before ordering. Divide the wall width by 1.2 for the number of drops, round up, and multiply by the wall height plus 10 centimetres plus one repeat: a 4 metre wall at 2.4 metres high takes 4 drops, about 10 metres before matching allowance. Order the whole wall from one batch so the foil and printing stay consistent.
