Casamance | Sienna

Sienna is a striated plaster effect: fine parallel trowel strokes, laid in bands so the surface has an ordered rhythm, with the relief suggested by shadow. The arrangement has something of the regularity of old cement tiles, and that is the reference. It is printed on an extra-wide vinyl with a non-woven backing, and it is the most structured of the Striato plasters, the one with a visible repeat.

Vinyl on a non-woven backing at 450 grams per square metre, the heaviest in the collection, in a wide 100 centimetre width on a 10.05 metre roll, straight match with a 53 centimetre vertical repeat. Fire rated B-s2,d0 and ASTM E84 Class A, with an A+ COV rating, and made in Italy. Six colourways: Ivoire, Perle, Grège, Nude, Topaze and Anthracite/Doré; the first four give a pale, warm wall, Topaze a soft blue, and Anthracite/Doré, with a gilded line in the striation, is the one for a dining room or a cloakroom.

We use Sienna in a hallway or a dining room where the ordered striation gives a long wall some structure, and on a bedhead wall with the plainer Volterra elsewhere in a matching tone. The 100 centimetre width keeps the seams few. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.

Hang it as a paste-the-wall non-woven; it dry strips later. The straight match means each drop aligns level with its neighbour, so cut drops to whole 53 centimetre repeats, which on a 2.6 metre wall means 2.65 metre drops and very little waste. A 100 centimetre roll covers about 10 square metres; a typical 3.5 by 2.6 metre wall takes 4 drops, which is 2 rolls with a spare.
