Casamance | Skoura

Skoura is a wallpanel of a Moroccan palm grove, drawn by hand in charcoal on a ground that imitates natural straw. It comes as three drops that make one scene, 2.04 metres wide and 3 metres tall, with the trees standing in open space so the panel reads as a drawing rather than a dense mural. This is the unframed version; Skoura Encadré is the same scene with a drawn border around it.

Vinyl on a non-woven backing at 330 grams per square metre. Each of the three panels is 68 centimetres wide and 3 metres long, hung as a straight match. Fire rated B-s2,d0 and ASTM E84 Class A, with an A+ COV rating, and made in Italy. Two colourways: Ivoire/Sable, with the grove drawn in sand on a warm white ground, and Lin/Noir, drawn in black on linen; the first is the softer choice for a bedroom and the second the more graphic one for a hall or a dining room.

We hang Skoura on a bedhead wall, behind a bath, or along a corridor where it can be seen end-on, with the plain Safra or Sora on the remaining walls. Because it is unframed, two sets can be hung side by side to fill a longer wall, and the grove reads as continuous. Sold as a set of three panels; order a sample before committing.

Hang it as a paste-the-wall non-woven and it dry strips later. The panels are 3 metres tall, so on a 2.6 metre ceiling you have about 40 centimetres of trim to place; decide whether the trees sit higher or lower on the wall before you cut, and mark a plumb line for the first drop. One set covers 2.04 metres; a 3.5 metre wall needs two sets, or one set centred with plain either side.
