Sora is a plain that imitates dupion silk: a fine ground with the slubs and horizontal irregularities of raw silk running through it, printed on an extra-wide vinyl with a non-woven backing. It has a faint sheen where the slubs catch the light, more than a linen-look paper and much less than a metallic. It is the plain the Racines patterns are designed to sit beside.
Vinyl on a non-woven backing at 400 grams per square metre, in a wide 100 centimetre width on a 10.05 metre roll, free match with no vertical repeat. Fire rated B-s2,d0 and ASTM E84 Class A, with an A+ COV rating, and made in Italy. Eighteen colourways, from Ivoire, Opaline, Lin, Sable, Nude and Galet through Acier, Eucalyptus, Vert Mousse, Ambre and Terracotta to Mordoré, Émeraude, Pétrole, Bordeaux, Marron Glacé, Orange Brûlé and Noir; the pale half suits whole rooms, and the deep shades a dining room or a study.
We use Sora on all four walls of a bedroom or a sitting room, and on the three walls around a Racines or Dattara feature wall in the matching tone. The 100 centimetre width means fewer seams on a long wall, which matters with a sheen. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.
Hang it as a paste-the-wall non-woven; it dry strips later. Free match, so drops need no alignment and waste is low, but with a silk-look plain we hang every drop the same way up and in roll order, since the sheen reads differently when a drop is reversed. A 100 centimetre roll covers about 10 square metres; a typical 3.5 by 2.6 metre wall takes 4 drops, which is 2 rolls with spare.
