Christopher Guy | Trellis

Trellis by Christopher Guy brings a hand carved, grapevine-like structure around a circular mirror. The frame has an organic, interlaced character that we would set against something quieter: a plain wall, a simple chest or a restrained mantel. The circle gives the piece a clear overall shape, while the carving introduces smaller changes of direction within it. We would use that combination where a room needs texture and movement without adding another upholstered or patterned surface.

The supplied mirror measures 100 cm wide by 8 cm deep by 100 cm high. It is available in 21st Century Gold Leaf, Tabac, White Lacq., 20th Century Silver Leaf or Bronzage, with custom sizes and finishes on request. We would compare the finish with the furniture and wall colour together, rather than choose it separately. The 8 cm depth also deserves attention when considering its position above a narrow console or near a route through the room.

In a dining room, we would pair Trellis with a sideboard of simple proportions and a small group of ceramics. In a bedroom, it could sit above a chest with plain linen curtains and simple upholstery nearby. We would also consider it over a sitting room mantel, particularly where the rest of the room has straight lines. A single branch or loose arrangement below could echo the organic character, although we would keep it from obscuring the frame.

We would mark the full circular outline on the wall before confirming the position. Looking from the doorway and from the nearest seat helps establish whether the carving remains distinct and the reflection is useful. We would ask the installer to check the wall substrate and appropriate fixing arrangement. Care should follow the guidance for the selected finish, which we would confirm before cleaning. Estimated delivery is 18–20 weeks, with custom requirements discussed before ordering.
