The angel's trumpet is a South American plant that found a second home in Andalusia, where it grows against the walls of the Alcazar's courtyards and along the older streets of Seville. The design studio drew it entirely by hand, following the conventions of botanical illustration rather than those of decorative pattern: the flower is observed, the leaf is turned to show its structure, and the stem is given its full length. What results is a floral carrying the authority of a plate from a herbarium.

The blooms hang downward, as they do on the plant, and the repeat gathers them into loose vertical runs, so the paper reads as a stripe from across a room and as a study of a single flower at close range. That double reading is what keeps it from becoming busy. A 52 cm straight repeat sets the pendant heads at a regular interval up the wall, and the wide 0.69 m roll means fewer seams to interrupt the climb.

Hung in a hall or a stairwell the verticality does real work, drawing the eye up through the height of the house. In a bedroom it settles into something quieter, particularly against plain linen and painted timber. There is enough drawing in it to hold a room alone, so it asks for restraint elsewhere: a plain floor, uncomplicated joinery, lighting placed low.
