Apex Grand is a pattern of interlocking triangles, drawn large. There is nothing else to it, and that austerity is the whole point: the design has no ornament, no reference and no incident, only the way three-sided forms meet edge to edge and the shift of tone across them. It belongs to the long tradition of geometry as wall decoration, from marquetry floors to parquetry cabinets.
What the scale does is turn a small motif into architecture. At this size the triangles no longer read as a pattern printed on a wall; they read as faceting, as though the plane itself were folded. Tonal changes between adjacent faces suggest light falling across those folds, giving a flat surface an implied relief that survives being seen from across a room.
Several colourways carry a metallic within the arrangement, and where they do the faceting becomes more pronounced under lamplight. It suits rooms where a strong architectural gesture is wanted and there is space to see it: a hall, a stairwell, a dining room, an office. Keep everything around it plain; a geometry this assertive needs quiet furniture and unpatterned cloth to work properly. Below a dado with plain paint above, it becomes a good deal easier to place.
