College Stripe comes from the potter's workshop rather than the drawing office. Its subject is what happens when a glaze or a slip is allowed to run: the way ink or oxide drawn down a vertical surface thickens, thins and pools according to gravity and to nothing else. The stripe is therefore a record of a movement rather than a measured band.
An ombre runs through each stripe, so the colour deepens and lifts along its length and no two passages are identical. Close to, the wall reads as a hand-worked surface with visible variation; at a distance the stripes read as a soft vertical texture, giving a room lift without the rigidity that a printed stripe usually imposes. It is the difference between a ruled line and a drawn one.
It hangs on a random match, which is worth knowing: adjacent drops need no aligning, so the paper is forgiving on walls that are out of true and economical around reveals and returns where offcuts would otherwise be wasted. On a 0.52 m roll it suits any domestic room. Use it where you want a plain wall with something in it: a bedroom, a study, a stair, a room already carrying pattern in its curtains.
