The tent stripe comes from the marquee: broad bands of alternating colour running the height of a canvas wall, structural rather than decorative, holding a temporary room together. Glastonbury Stripe is drawn from that tradition, with two-toned ribbons wide enough to be read as architecture rather than as pattern.

Each band is made from more than one tone, which is what saves it from flatness. There is a deeper line at the edge of the stripe and a lighter body within it, so the wall carries a slight sense of a fold or a shadow and reads as fabric. The scale is confident: only a few bands fall across each 0.52 m width, so the eye takes the room's proportions from the stripe. It hangs random match, which is genuinely useful here. Nothing to align at the seams, less waste at the ceiling, and a much easier job on walls that are out of true.

A stripe of this width does something to a room's height and is worth using deliberately: a hall, a stairwell, a bedroom with a low ceiling, a garden room you want to feel like a tent. It works below a picture rail as well as full height, and it is one of the few bold papers that will happily share a room with a large-scale floral.
