Moss Trellis was designed in 1935, which is not what most people would guess from looking at it. There is little of the period's more decorative habits here, no sunbursts, no stylised flowers, no attempt at Deco geometry. What there is instead is an abstracted trellis at a scale bold enough that it could have been drawn forty years later.

The structure is a lattice, but a loosened one. The lines are drawn with a soft, uneven edge and the openings are irregular, so the geometry never quite locks and the design keeps a hand-made quality that a mechanical trellis would lose. Some colourways carry metallic detail, which catches light along the lattice and gives it a raised look; others are entirely matte and read flatter and more graphic.

At a 52 cm straight repeat on a 0.52 m roll, each drop carries one full module across its width, which makes the setting-out simple and the geometry legible. The scale is large enough for it to carry a room without any help, so it belongs where the walls are the scheme: a drawing room, a principal bedroom, or a wide hall. It also stands up well to a picture-hung wall, since the open lattice reads round a frame rather than behind it.
