Weave is a small-scale archive design that imitates the texture of woven straw: a fine, regular grid of over and under, drawn rather than photographed, with just enough irregularity in the line to keep it from looking mechanical. It sits in the family of papers whose job is to give a wall a grain rather than a pattern.
At any normal distance it reads as matting or fine rush. Close to, it becomes clear that it is a print, and a fairly graphic one, with the strokes visible as strokes. That honesty is what makes it usable. It is not trying to convince anyone it is a natural material, so it does not have to succeed at the deception. It simply gives a flat wall something to hold light on.
A design this small is unusually easy to work with. It goes round corners and over awkward returns without the pattern needing to be reconciled, it sits behind pictures and shelving without argument, and it makes a small room feel lined rather than papered. Use it in a hall, a study, a dressing room or a spare bedroom, and let stronger pattern happen elsewhere. Weave is at its most useful as the calm room in a decorated house.
