The Attenborough Buckle Cushion is a small, considered piece, and the buckle is what sets it apart from a plain scatter. It brings a note of tailoring to a sofa or bed, closer to a well-cut jacket than to a decorative flourish. Hyena is a soft, muted shade that sits between stone and taupe, easy to live with and quiet enough to repeat across a room. The cushion measures 45 cm in width and is sold each, so you can build up a grouping at your own pace. We have not been given a composition or a country of manufacture for this piece, and we would rather say so than guess. The buckle is the detail to look at closely when it arrives, as it gives the cushion a front and a character that a plain cover does not have. We tend to use the Attenborough on a sofa, set against a slightly larger plain cushion so the buckle reads as a deliberate detail rather than the main event. It also works well at the foot of a bed, or on a reading chair where a single cushion does the work of a small cushion collection. Hyena pairs easily with linens in oatmeal and natural stone, and it holds its own against deeper tones such as ink, bottle green or a dark chocolate.

Because the cushion carries a buckle, place it where it will be seen rather than leaned on, and turn it so the fastening sits to the front or the side as you prefer. We would suggest two of these at most in any one seating group, so the detail stays special. Plump the insert by hand and keep it away from direct sun and damp. For marks, spot clean gently, and ask us before using anything stronger.
