The Bison cushion is a plain-faced, tactile piece finished with a fringe detail along its edge. Its character comes from the trim rather than from pattern, so it adds movement and a soft shadow line without bringing a design into the room. The fringe catches the light and shifts slightly whenever the cushion is moved, which gives an otherwise quiet piece some life. In Bone, a soft, warm off-white, it sits easily alongside most neutral schemes.

This cushion is sold each and measures 55 cm in width, a generous size that fills the corner of a sofa or the back of an armchair without looking overstuffed. It is from de Le Cuona, and the name and finish place it among their textured, natural-feeling pieces. We have not been given a fibre composition for this cushion, so we will not guess at it here; if you need exact content for a specific brief, let us know and we will confirm it before you order.

We would use this as a anchor cushion in a layered group, set at the back of a sofa with two or three smaller cushions in front of it. It also suits a bed, placed against the headboard in front of the pillows, or a reading chair where a slightly more structured shape is wanted. Bone works well with darker, deeper colours as a relief, and equally with tonal creams and stones where the fringe provides all the interest. We like it against a mid-tone linen sofa, where the texture reads quietly.

Because the fringe is part of the design, keep it clear of zips, buttons and rough upholstery that might snag it. Check the seat depth before ordering, as 55 cm suits a full-sized sofa better than a small tub chair. Brush the fringe gently with your fingers to keep it lying evenly, and avoid pulling any single strand. Turn the cushion occasionally so wear is spread evenly. If it is placed near a window, rotate it away from direct sun now and then to keep the colour consistent.
