de Le Cuona | Cape Cushion with Braided Cord Trim – Frost

The Cape cushion is a plain, well-made scatter cushion finished with a braided cord trim running around its edge. The trim is the point of it. Without it, a cushion in a colour as quiet as Frost can disappear into a sofa; with it, the outline of the cushion is drawn in relief, and the cord casts a small, soft shadow along each seam. It is a pale, cool shade, closer to a washed stone than to white. We tend to use it where a room needs definition but not pattern.

A practical note for placing the cushion in a room: because the trim is a fixed detail, we suggest putting the cushion where the cord will be seen, with the seam facing outwards rather than turned into the back of a seat. If you are mixing several sizes, place the 50 cm cushion at the rear and bring smaller ones forward. Keep it away from strong direct sun for long periods, as pale colours show wear and handling more readily than darker ones, and plump it by hand to keep the corners sharp.
