Heirloom Linen Paisley in Celadon is a paisley drawn on a large, relaxed scale, printed on a linen-cotton ground in a soft, greyed green. Paisley can feel heavy or traditional, but here the colour is so low in contrast that the motif reads as a gentle texture from across the room and only shows its detail as you come closer. The linen gives the cloth a natural, slightly irregular surface, so the pattern settles into the weave rather than sitting on top of it like a print on paper.

The cloth is 75% linen and 25% cotton, and it is 140 cm wide. The vertical repeat is 128 cm and the horizontal repeat is 36 cm, which is a generous drop and an easy one to work with in a tall room. It is suitable for curtains, and it is sold by the 0.5m, so you can order a precise quantity or a small piece to test against your walls. We do not have a Martindale figure or a place of manufacture to give you here.

We would use Celadon for full-length curtains in a bedroom or a sitting room, where the pale green sits well against white walls, pale oak and natural stone. In a dining room, a pair of lined curtains in this cloth gives the windows a quiet pattern without the weight of a stronger design. For pairing, we would put it with a plain oatmeal linen on a nearby sofa and a darker green or soft brown in cushions, so the paisley is the only pattern in the room.

With a 128 cm vertical repeat, you will need extra length to match the pattern across the width of each curtain, so we would ask your workroom to calculate quantities from the finished drop and add for the repeat on every drop. We would line and interline the curtains so the linen hangs with some weight. Order a cutting first, and allow for a little shrinkage in linen if the workroom advises it.
