This is de Le Cuona's take on a working garment turned into a piece of soft furnishing in its own right. The Rambler poncho is cut generously and woven with enough body to hold its shape over a shoulder or folded across the arm of a chair, and the llama hair gives it a slightly shaggy, irregular surface that catches light unevenly rather than lying flat. It behaves less like a fashion accessory and more like a blanket that happens to have a head-hole.
The cloth is llama wool, finished in a deep chestnut, and the poncho measures 140cm across. Made by de Le Cuona, whose textiles we buy in for their weight and their willingness to age well rather than look pristine. There is no printed repeat to consider, as the interest here comes from the fibre itself and the way the wool has been spun and finished.
We tend to treat the Rambler as much as an interiors object as an item of clothing. It sits well thrown over the back of a large armchair or a bed end, works as a second layer in a cold hallway or boot room, and travels easily to a car or a shoot. Paired with waxed cotton, tweed or a heavy linen sofa, it reads as part of the room rather than an afterthought.
Because it is a finished, ready-to-wear piece rather than yardage, there is no cutting or making up to think about. We would simply check it against the wearer or the space it is destined for, given the 140cm width, before ordering. Store it folded over a rail or draped rather than compressed for long periods, so the wool keeps its loft. A light shake and an airing outdoors will lift the pile if it has been packed away, and a proper wool brush is worth keeping nearby for everyday care.
