de Le Cuona | Urchin Ceramic Vase Large – White

The Urchin vase is a piece of ceramic made to be looked at as much as filled. White, large and sculptural, it takes its name from the sea urchin, and we read it as a form with a surface that catches the light and throws small shadows across itself as the day moves. In a plain room it does the work of a quiet object: it gives the eye something to settle on without introducing colour or pattern, and it holds its own beside much softer things such as linen and wool.

We do not have exact measurements to give you for the large size, so please check the dimensions with us before you plan a position, particularly if it is meant for a shelf, a niche or the centre of a table. It looks well on its own, or with a few bare branches rather than a full bouquet. Pair it with undyed linen, oak, stone and de Le Cuona's textured cloths, and keep the surrounding colours soft so the form stays the point.

Before it goes out, unpack it on a flat surface and keep the packaging until you are sure of its position. Place it on a felt pad or a cork mat so the base does not mark polished wood or stone. Ceramic is heavy and hard, so we would not stand it near the edge of a table in a busy passage or within reach of small children. Wipe it with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth, and avoid abrasive cleaners that could dull the finish.
