The Urchin vase takes its name from the sea urchin, and the form is a quiet reference to it rather than a literal copy. This is the medium size in White, a ceramic piece that is more object than container. The white is soft rather than stark, and it takes light well, so the texture and the shadows it throws become the main interest. It is the kind of thing we place when a room needs one considered thing on a surface, and we like that it earns its place even when it holds nothing at all.
The vase is in ceramic, finished in white, in the medium size, and its de Le Cuona code is VAS11. We have not been given the exact dimensions, the weight or the details of how it is made, and we would rather not estimate them. Please ask us and we will confirm the height and the width of the opening before you buy, so that you can be sure it suits the shelf, console or table you have in mind and the stems you want to put in it.
We would put Urchin on a console in a hall, on a mantelpiece, or at the centre of a dining table where it can be seen from every side. Left empty it reads as sculpture; with a few dried grasses, branches of eucalyptus or a single head of hydrangea it becomes softer and more domestic. It sits well with natural linen, honed stone, pale oak and plaster, and it looks particularly good against a deep wall colour, where the white stands out cleanly.
Check the dimensions against your chosen spot before ordering, especially the opening if you plan to use it for stems. There is no assembly or fixing. We would place it on a felt pad or a mat to protect polished wood and to keep it from sliding. Because the piece is ceramic, we would wipe it with a soft, damp cloth and dry it, avoid abrasive cleaners, and use a liner or a glass insert if you want to hold fresh flowers and water.
