Bambù Strié Wall is the striated version of the same vinyl wallcovering, embossed with a fine vertical strié whose texture recalls basketwork rather than plain weave. The colour vibrates along those lines, so the wall gains a soft directional grain that draws the eye upward and makes a low room feel taller. Like its plain relation it is made in fire-retardant, light-resistant vinyl on a non-woven ground, so it will take the traffic of a hall or a stair without marking.
Made in Italy, 100 per cent vinyl on a non-woven backing. Each roll is 67.5 centimetres wide and 4.7 metres long. Four colourways: 001 Green, 002 Paglia, 003 Metal and 006 Linen / Beige. Linen / Beige and Paglia are the naturals and sit easily with undyed cloth; Green is the only real colour in the range; Metal has a low sheen that changes considerably between daylight and lamplight.
We use it in halls and stairwells where the vertical grain does useful work, in a dining room where lamplight will rake across it, and on a single bedroom wall behind the bed. It goes with oak, brass, lime plaster and plain linen, and it sits quietly behind art. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.
Paste the wall rather than the paper, and hang it plumb, because a strié shows any lean in the drop immediately. Count drops rather than square metres: below a 2.3 metre ceiling a roll gives two drops, so a 4 metre wall takes three rolls, and above that height a roll gives one drop and the same wall takes six. Reverse alternate drops and order a spare roll from the same batch.
