DEDAR | Pin008 Ribbon

Pin008 is a flat ribbon in rayon, 45 millimetres wide, woven in Italy. The face carries a fine repeating rib and a low, even lustre, the sort of finish that shows colour cleanly without going glassy. Both edges are woven, so it lies flat on a cloth and needs no turning under. At 4.5 centimetres it is wide enough to read as a border across a room and narrow enough to use on a cushion without crowding it.

Composition is 99 per cent rayon with 1 per cent polyester, finished 4.5 centimetres wide. Made in Italy. Ten colourways: 001 Marzapane, 009 Paté, 010 Naviglio, 011 Nocciola, 015 Chantilly, 018 Mirtillo, 022 Melograno, 024 Aragosta, 026 Crema and 031 Sablé. The pale half of the range is for tone-on-tone work; Mirtillo, Melograno and Aragosta are the ones we use when the border is meant to carry the accent colour of a scheme.

We run it up the leading edge of a plain curtain, across the lower third of a Roman blind, and as a single band on the face of a cushion rather than round all four sides. It answers well to plain linen, wool and cotton grounds. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it against your cloth.

It is applied flat, stitched along both selvedges, with mitred corners where it turns. Mark the line with tailor's chalk and a long rule first, because at this width any wander is obvious. Allow the measured run plus 10 per cent, more if you are mitring corners, and order the full quantity in one go so the colour matches across a pair of curtains. Dedar trims are cut to order and cannot be returned.
