DEDAR | Pod002 Ribbon

Pod002 is a flat ribbon 8 centimetres wide, woven in Italy in acrylic with a trace of polyester. The face is close and even with a slight dry sheen, and both edges are woven clean so it lies flat against a cloth without turning. At eight centimetres it is a band rather than a trim: applied to a plain curtain or cover it creates a deliberate stripe with a hard, well-defined edge on both sides.

Composition is 99 per cent acrylic with 1 per cent polyester, finished 8 centimetres wide. Made in Italy. Two colourways: 001 Navy, a deep blue with no purple in it, and 002 Nero, a flat black. Both are dense, unmixed colours, so they hold a line cleanly against pale cloth; on a dark ground they work as a change of texture and the width does the rest.

We use it as a border on plain curtains, set up from the hem, and down the leading edge where a tall window needs a vertical. It also works applied across the face of a bench cushion or a bolster. Keep it to plain grounds, linen, cotton or wool, so the band stays the only line in the piece. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it against your cloth.

Applied flat and stitched along both selvedges, with mitred corners. Chalk the line out against a long rule first, because a band this wide reveals any drift. Acrylic takes a press, so ask your maker to use a cool iron and a cloth. Measure your run, add 15 per cent for mitres and returns, and order in one length. Dedar trims are cut to order and cannot be returned.
