DEDAR | Pod005 Rouche

Pod005 is a rouche 4 centimetres deep, gathered along the header and left open along the outer edge. The pleats are generous rather than fine, so the band has visible depth and throws a shadow under itself, giving an edge weight without adding a hard line. Woven entirely in acrylic, it keeps colour evenly and has the springiness to recover its shape after being leant on, which matters on anything that is actually sat against.

Composition is 100 per cent acrylic, 4 centimetres deep, made in Italy. Six colourways: 001 Navy, 002 Nero, 005 Turchese, 008 Nocciola, 010 Avorio and 011 Bianco. Avorio and Bianco are the ones to use when the gather is doing the work and the colour should not; Navy and Nero define an edge cleanly on pale cloth; Turchese and Nocciola are the two that will set the accent in a room.

We run it round cushion borders, along the hem of a loose seat cover, and on the bottom edge of a simple cotton curtain in a garden room or a bedroom. Plain washed linen and cotton suit it best, and it will sit happily against a chenille. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it against your cloth.

The flat header is stitched down and the ruffle left standing, so the trim is applied by hand before the final seam closes. Acrylic takes a crease and holds it, so keep the trim rolled rather than folded until it is used. Measure the run, add 10 per cent for corners and returns, and order it all at once so the colour matches. Dedar trims are cut to order and cannot be returned.
