Secret Garden is one of the statement florals in George & Minnie's first wallpaper volume, a lush, leafy design drawn in the brand's London studio and printed on a non-woven ground. Flowers and foliage are packed closely enough to feel like a wall of planting, with a 54.5 centimetre repeat that lets the growth wander rather than sit in rows. It is a paper that changes the temperature of a room, which is exactly what it is for.
It is 100 per cent non-woven, 52 centimetres wide, with a 54.5 centimetre vertical repeat. There are 5 colourways: Forest, Grass, Denim, Aqua/Sage and Parchment. Forest and Grass are the ones for a real garden room; Denim leans cooler and more urban; Aqua/Sage is the softest and gentlest of the group, and Parchment gives you the design with most of the colour turned down, which suits a north-facing space.
We would put Secret Garden in a dining room with the ceiling painted a shade darker, in a garden-facing snug, or on the walls of a cloakroom, where a small room can afford to be entirely wrapped in it. Keep the curtains plain and pick a stripe or a small check from the same collection for chair seats so the paper stays the point of the room. Being non-woven it is hung paste-the-wall: paste the wall, hang the dry lengths and butt the joins, and it will strip dry when you next redecorate.
