Wild Meadow is the big meadow floral from George & Minnie's first wallpaper volume, drawn in the brand's London studio and printed in a single colour on a pale ground. Grasses, seed heads and open flowers tangle upward through a 53 centimetre repeat, so the wall reads as one continuous hedgerow rather than a row of motifs. Because it is one ink on one ground, it has the lightness of a toile without the fuss, and it suits rooms that want pattern but not noise.
It is printed on a 100 per cent non-woven ground, 52 centimetres wide, with a 53 centimetre vertical repeat. There are 8 colourways in all; Barley and Blush are the quiet ones, Periwinkle and Aqua bring a fresher, seaside note, and Ink and Emerald give the drawing real weight on the wall. There is a matching Wild Meadow fabric in the Volume One print collection if you want curtains or a headboard to run with it.
We would use it in a spare bedroom or a small sitting room, on every wall, with the ceiling and joinery in the ground colour so the meadow feels as if it grows straight out of the skirting. It is a very good paper for a sloping attic ceiling, where the continuous drawing helps the odd angles disappear. Keep upholstery plain or use a small check like Checkmate, and let the wall carry the room. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.
It is a paste-the-wall paper: paste the wall rather than the back, hang the lengths dry and butt the joins, and it will strip dry later without soaking. Allow for the 53 centimetre repeat when cutting drops, since the stems need to run through across the seams. As a rough guide, a 4 metre wall at standard ceiling height takes around 3 rolls; measure the room before ordering and buy from one batch so the shade is consistent.
