Alma is a small-scale print from the Coromandel Small Prints collection, its neat, all-over motif set at a tight 10 by 19.5 centimetre repeat so it reads from across a room as texture rather than pattern. It is the sort of print we use to add colour and a little life to a scheme without introducing a motif that needs matching against anything else in the room.
The cloth is 100 per cent linen, printed rather than woven, which gives the small motif a slightly soft, absorbed edge typical of Baker's block-print heritage. It is 137 centimetres wide, with a 10 centimetre vertical and 19.5 centimetre horizontal repeat, and no rub count is stated, so we would treat it as a curtain and occasional-upholstery weight rather than a daily-use cloth. Five colourways: Red/Indigo, Indigo, Ochre/Mole, Aqua and Red/Green; Indigo and Aqua are the two cooler, easiest options to build a scheme around.
We use it for curtains in a hallway, kitchen or garden room, and it covers a small chair or a footstool well where the tight repeat holds up to close inspection at hand height. Pair it with a larger companion print from the Coromandel collections, or keep it as the only pattern in an otherwise plain, quiet room. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
The small repeat wastes little fabric in the cutting; allow around 10 centimetres per drop for matching. Line curtains as standard, and interline for a bright room, since printed linen is the first thing to fade in strong sun. As no rub count is given, keep upholstery to lightly used pieces rather than daily seating.
