Caspian is a printed design from the Caspian collection, a large-scale motif set at an 89 by 69 centimetre repeat on a pure cotton ground. The generous scale gives it real presence across a run of curtains or a wide upholstered piece, and it works best where the pattern has room to play out in full rather than being cut down to a small panel or narrow chair.

The cloth is 100 per cent cotton, which takes the printed colour with a crisp, even finish well suited to a large motif. It is 138 centimetres wide, with an 89 centimetre vertical and 69 centimetre horizontal repeat, and Martindale rubs of 35,000 mean it is rated for upholstery as well as curtains. Two colourways, Indigo/Red and Aqua; Indigo/Red is the deeper, more dramatic option, Aqua the lighter and cooler of the two.

We use it for a pair of curtains in a generous sitting room or across a wide sofa where the large repeat can play out properly, and it makes a striking pair of cushions in a room built around a plainer scheme elsewhere. Pair Indigo/Red with cream and warm timber, and Aqua with white-painted woodwork for a fresher look. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

Allow a full 89 centimetre repeat per drop and match the print carefully across widths, since a large motif shows any misalignment at the seams more readily than a small-scale print. Line curtains as standard, and interline for a bright room to protect the printed colour from fading in strong sun. At 35,000 Martindale rubs, it will stand up to a sofa or chair in regular family use.
