Flower Patch is a scattered, informal floral from House Small Prints II, with small heads drawn loosely and spaced across an open ground. The repeat is 13 centimetres vertically, which keeps the whole thing light. It is the kind of paper that reads as a pretty wash of colour on a wall rather than as a documented floral, and that makes it forgiving in rooms where you do not want to commit to a period.
Printed on a 100 per cent non-woven ground, 52 centimetres wide, with a 13 centimetre vertical repeat. Four colourways: Blue, Aqua, Green and Parchment. Parchment is the softest and behaves almost like a textured paint. Blue is the most useful for a bedroom, Aqua is the freshest in daylight, and Green is the one we would choose where the room looks onto a garden and you want the two to talk to each other.
We would use this in a bedroom, a bathroom, a landing or a small guest room, and it is a good paper for a sloped attic ceiling where a directional pattern would be a nuisance. It sits well with painted furniture and simple linen curtains, and it will take a check or a small stripe alongside it without the room becoming busy. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.
Paste the wall and hang the lengths dry, sliding each one up to the match. Allow one extra repeat per drop when cutting, which at 13 centimetres is a small amount of waste. A four metre wall at 2.6 metres high takes eight drops, so three rolls at the usual 10 metres, and a sloped ceiling will need more, so measure the longest drop and work from that. Order all rolls in one batch and keep a length spare for later repairs.
