GP & J Baker | Foxhill

Foxhill belongs to the Burford collection, GP & J Baker's collection of botanical linen prints, and it takes a single flowering branch and repeats it at a generous 38 by 45 centimetre scale so the pattern reads as an open, hand-drawn trail rather than a dense floral. The linen-rich ground keeps the print matte and slightly textured, in keeping with the rest of the Burford designs, and the open spacing lets plenty of the natural cloth show through.

The composition is 42 per cent linen, 29 per cent viscose, 22 per cent rayon and 7 per cent spun polyester, and it is 135 centimetres wide with a 38 centimetre vertical and 45 centimetre horizontal repeat. GP & J Baker specify it for curtains and bedspreads. There is one colourway, Green, a leafy tone that sits easily with cream walls, aged oak and brass, and reads as a natural, garden-adjacent colour rather than a strong accent.

We use it for curtains in a garden room or a bedroom that looks onto planting, where the open trail has room to be read properly, and it makes a good bedspread with the branch running the length of the bed. A pair of cushions on a plain linen sofa is a simple way to bring the colour into a sitting room without a full set of curtains. Allow one repeat per drop and match carefully across widths so the branch continues rather than breaks at the seam. Line and interline curtains, and press from the reverse to protect the print. It is not specified for upholstery, so keep it to windows, beds and cushions, and centre the design deliberately on a bedspread so the trail sits symmetrically.
