Home Park is the parkland scenic in Royal Court, GP & J Baker's collection drawn from the archive of designs made for royal residences. Trees, open ground and a low horizon are worked in tonal layers and printed on a viscose and linen cloth, and the repeat is the largest in the fabric range at 93 centimetres vertically by 68.5 horizontally. At that scale it is a single picture rather than a pattern, and it needs a full-length drop or a large flat panel to make any sense of it.

Composition is 82 per cent viscose and 18 per cent linen, 137 centimetres wide, 93 centimetre vertical repeat, 68.5 centimetre horizontal. It is rated for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads. Four colourways: Emerald, Green/Blue, Old Red and Ochre. Emerald is the deepest and most tapestry-like. Green/Blue is cooler and reads well in a room with plenty of daylight. Old Red is the warm, evening colourway, and Ochre is the palest and the one that keeps a small room open.

Curtains are where this design belongs, full length, interlined, with a heading that does not eat the pattern. A soft gathered or goblet heading works; a heavy pinch pleat does not. It also makes a fine flat bedspread or a pair of panels either side of a chimney breast. Everything else in the room should be plain. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

Plan the drops on paper first. At 93 centimetres you will use a full repeat per drop, and where the horizon sits in relation to the sill matters more than saving a metre. Match the pair from the hem up, not from the heading down, so the two curtains read together at eye level. Order all of it in one cut to keep the print batch consistent.
