Ikat Bokhara Linen is a printed interpretation of the ikat weaves associated with Bokhara, the Central Asian city long known for the technique, translated here onto a pure linen ground for the Caspian collection. The blurred, feathered edge typical of true ikat is worked at a tall, narrow scale, 70 centimetres vertically against 26.5 horizontally, so the pattern runs in a continuous, textural column up the drop rather than settling into a single repeating block.
The cloth is 100 per cent linen, 133 centimetres wide, with a 70 centimetre vertical and 26.5 centimetre horizontal repeat, and GP & J Baker tested it to 30,000 Martindale rubs, which is rated for upholstery, specifying it for curtains and upholstery. Three colourways: Indigo, Emerald and Parchment; Indigo is the one we reach for most, a deep, even blue that carries the ikat's blurred edge particularly well and works equally well in a period or a plainer contemporary room.
We use it for curtains where the tall repeat can run the full drop of a window, and at 30,000 rubs it upholsters confidently on a chair or a sofa in ordinary use. Pair Indigo with warm timber and brass, Emerald with a more contemporary cool scheme, and Parchment where the room wants a quieter neutral with texture rather than colour to carry it. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
Allow a full 70 centimetre repeat per drop and match the print across widths, since the narrow, columnar scale shows any drift quickly. Line curtains as standard; for upholstery, plan the pattern placement with your workroom before cutting so the ikat runs consistently up the main panels of a chair or sofa, rather than falling at an awkward height.
