GP & J Baker | Little Brantwood

Little Brantwood is a smaller-scale companion to the main Brantwood print in GP & J Baker's Originals Brantwood collection, the naturalist archive named for Ruskin's house on Coniston Water in the Lake District, where he gathered his own studies of plants and landscape. The repeat is a neat 22 by 34 centimetres, printed on a viscose-linen ground, so it reads as a finer, more even texture than the collection's larger botanical studies, useful where a bolder archive print would be too much for the room.

The cloth is 67 per cent viscose and 33 per cent linen, a blend that gives the printed colour a soft sheen and the cloth a good, easy drape at a window. It is 136 centimetres wide, with a 22 centimetre vertical and 34 centimetre horizontal repeat, and GP & J Baker specify it for curtains and upholstery. Two colourways, Blue/Green and Green; Blue/Green is the cooler of the two, Green the more grounded and versatile choice for most rooms.

We use it for curtains where a smaller-scale archive print suits the room better than one of the collection's larger designs, and it covers a chair or window seat well. It pairs naturally with the collection's bigger prints, such as Brantwood Cotton or Ruskin Cotton, taking the quieter, supporting role in the same working scheme. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

Allow a full repeat per drop and match the print across widths so the pattern continues cleanly at every seam. Line and interline curtains, since printed colour on a viscose-rich ground fades faster than a woven yarn-dyed cloth; for upholstery, plan the pattern placement carefully with your workroom before the piece is cut.
