GP & J Baker | Loxley

Loxley is an Essential Weaves design in cotton, polyester, viscose, linen and a small amount of wool, the wool giving it slightly more body than the purely synthetic-and-cellulosic blends elsewhere in the range. There is no meaningful repeat, so the cloth reads as an even, slightly textured neutral, and the four colourways move from pale stone tones through to a genuinely cool teal and grey, giving a scheme real room to move between warm and cool without changing cloth.

Composition is 28 per cent cotton, 23 per cent polyester, 20 per cent viscose, 17 per cent linen, 10 per cent wool and 2 per cent nylon. It is 140 centimetres wide, and GP & J Baker specify it for curtains and both loose and fixed upholstery. Four colourways: Marble, Parchment, Teal and Dove.

We use Loxley for curtains and upholstery in the same scheme, Marble or Parchment for a room that wants a warm, pale neutral, Teal or Dove where a cooler note is wanted. The wool content gives it slightly more presence on a sofa than a purely cellulosic cloth would have, and a window seat base in Teal against pale walls reads calm without being flat. Pair with a documentary print. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

There is no published rub count for Loxley, so ask your supplier for current test data before specifying it for hard daily use; we would treat it as suited to curtains, blinds and lighter upholstery. Being close to a plain, there is no pattern to match; line curtains as usual, and order from a single batch to keep the colour even across a room.
